3G-4G Mobile Auction – PTA Issued Information Memorandum & Schedule

Islamabad (Wed, February 26th, 2014) – Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) has issued Information Memorandum (IM) for Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS).

This new mobile technology will enable mobile and PC users to experience fastest data rate on their devices.

ext Generation Mobile Services Award (NGMSA) will base on two type cellular technologies:-

Third generation (3G)

&

Fourth Generation (4G)

PTA has also announced schedule of auction process. This process will start in the fourth week of March and will end in second week of April, 2014.

PTA will award licenses of following cellular frequency spectrum:-

850 MHz Frequency Band

1800 MHz Frequency Band

2100 MHz Frequency Band

Schedule of Auction

Timeline for the NGMSA Process

Publication of Information Memorandum  (February 25, 2014)
Consultation period ends  (March 10, 2014)
Notification of changes to the NGMSA rules and procedures if
any (March 17, 2014)
Information session for prospective bidders (last opportunity for
bidders to ask questions and get clarification on specifics of the
auction) (March 19, 2014)
Deadline for Prospective applicants to submit Application form
and Sealed-bid Offer  with Pre-Bid deposits(Annex B and Annex
E) (March 25 , 2014, 4 PM Pakistan Standard Time)
PTA notifies qualified applicants  (March 28, 2014)
Bidder packages containing confidential information and
instructions to participate in the mock auction and auction is
provided to qualified applicants (April 1, 2014)
Mock Auction for Qualified Bidders  (April 3, 2014)
Auction starts  (April 7, 2014)
Provisional winners announced  On completion of the auction
License payments due  According to the schedule established in
Section 2.6 of this IM.
Granting of Licenses  Within 30 days of having received the 50%
or 100% payment of the Initial Spectrum Fee as appropriate
