Islamabad (Tuesday, December 18, 2012) – According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority (68%) support government’s action to block mobile phone service during Ashura.

Government of Pakistan suspended almost two all mobile phone service through out Pakistan.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Keeping in mind the security situation, mobile networks were blocked by the government during Muharram. To what extent do you support the government’s decision to block mobile networks?” Responding to this, 33% strongly support government’s decision, 35% somewhat support it, 21% somewhat oppose it while 10% strongly oppose it. However 1% did not give a view.
