Letter to the National/International Community for Solidarity Support by Hassan Rana
We take this opportunity to inform your good self that the most profitable institution PTCL was privatized in 2005 by selling only 26% shares with management control. The ETISALAT which is failure organization in many countries won the Bid and got installment by unfair means, is not paying rest money 800 million dollars despite lapse of 6 years. The Concerned Authorities are silent in this matter.
The Company PTCL Management, in 2008 announced a so called Voluntary Separation Scheme. The scheme was not voluntary, the Company management out of law marked the individual employees as redundant, surplus, not needed etc mere threatened the employees to opt the scheme. The Company also threatened that if not opt they would be retrenched without any reward. The company succeeded to remove 30,000 out of 60,000 employees and 5,000 were retired in routine. After this the work load on remaining 25,000 employees became doubled and their field area uncontrollable extended.
It is very uncertain that on 26th July, 2012 the company has again announced another So called Voluntary Separation Scheme to remove 16,000 employees out of total 25,000. It is fact that the company can’t be run by remaining 9,000 employees. The Company Management is holding “Road Shows” in all the offices of the Company to induce, threatening, misguiding the poor workers for unemployment and also transferring them to remote areas. The Company Management has also fixed commission per opted worker for the field officers to more induce and exert undue efforts for the success of the Scheme.
The Company Management has also stopped illegally our two workers websites at their ISP level i.e. www.pakistanworkers.com & www.ptclworkers.com as the company is major ISP provider in the Country and also managed press media through costly Advertisements. We are dying under strict cruelty and procedural injustice, none is hearing our voice. We request to your good self to exert pressure on the Company Management or extend any type of help you deem fit for the best interest of workers. We also request in solidarity please not to leave us alone in this very crucial time.
With best regards and good wishes.
