600 PTCL workers reinstatement and Cases Withdrawal: Anti-Privatisation Alliance Pakistan Demanded : Daily Business Recorder December 4, 2010:
LAHORE (December 03, 2010) : Anti-Privatisation Alliance Pakistan has demanded reinstatement of 600 workers of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) and withdrawal of cases registered against PTCL union leaders on charges of terrorism. APAP held a rally near Lahore Press Club here on Thursday, which was presided over by Chairman National Trade Union Federation Mohammad Yusuf Baloch.
Rally was addressed by Chairman Tehrik-e-Insaaf Punjab Ahsan Rashid, Director Pakistan Institutute of Education and Research Karamat Ali, General Secretary Awami Jamhoori Forum, Naeem Shakir, Vice President Workers Party of Pakistan Camrade Irfan Ahmad, President Communist Mazdoor Kissan Party, Azam Butt, President All Pakistan Teachers Federation, Moin Nawaz Pannu, President Sohrab Cycle & Motor Cycle Factory, Rahmat Nasib President Lahore Gymkhana staff union and PTCL union leaders Hassan Muhammad Rana, Malik Maqbool Hussain and Ammadul Hassan Qureshi.
Addressing the rally, the labour leaders demanded that the PTCL management should reinstate the 600 workers dismissed on the charges of unlawful union activities. They claimed that 35,000 PTCL workers have already been laid off after privatisation of this public sector organisation while jobs of remaining 26,000 workers at stake.
