Cellphone services resumed after four hour suspension on Eid
Islamabad (Breaking News / Saturday, October 27, 2012) – Cellphone services were resumed in Pakistani cities and towns on Saturday after a four-hour-long suspension on the first day of Eidul Azha.
Mobile services were suspended from 6am to 10am in the light of information from intelligence agencies and provincial governments over “threats to national security” on the first day of Eid.
The suspension was not countrywide but was partial and in cities and pockets considered sensitive.
Earlier on Friday, television channels had quoted their sources as saying the suspension order applied to following cities:
According to the details, mobile services in Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar, Hangu, Bannu, Laki Marwat, Haripur, Mansehra, Tank, Swat, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Shangla, Chitral, Mardan, Quetta, Hub, Turbat, Khuzdar, Bolan, Gwadar, Sibi and other districts were suspended till 10AM.
