Mobile Communication – Thousands of students complete internship programme in Cellular sector
KARACHI (August 26, 2011) : Telecommunication industry of Pakistan particularly the expanding and flourishing cellular sector is the workplace of highly qualified and talented people of diversified field. Thousands of people are looking for employment opportunities in foreign cellular companies having excellent reputation for working environment.
The cellular sector is also a dream place for hundred of thousands of students from different universities, who wish to start their career in the booming industry.

A large number of students seek internship opportunities in these companies every year in different disciplines. Recently, a significant number of students have completed their summer internship programmes successfully in different cellular companies. The period varies from a minimum of 6 weeks to 8 weeks, however, few operators allow students to work on six months long projects as intern.
Interns are mostly hired from different metropolis such as Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, Faisalabad and Multan and get opportunity to work in different field including Marketing, HR, Finance, Engineering and Radio Frequency, Network Operations, Business Intelligence, and Sales and Distribution
Every year the industry get a large number of applications from students wanting to intern in cellular sector and most of these internship applications are received during the summer, when students have a off from their universities, and they want to gain professional experience to kick start their careers.
Interns are usually students who have completed their third year of undergraduate studies or the first year of their Master’s course and a majority of them come from LUMS, IBA, NUST, Bahria University, ISRA, Iqra, Comsats, LSE, SZABIST GIk, GC, Punjab University, etc.
Telenor Pakistan claimed that it received around 10,000 applications for internships via its online application process so far in this year that shows the importance of internship in cellular sector. All interns are paid with commensurate stipend, whereas a certificate and company’s experience letter is provided to them at the completion of the training programme. At Warid students are paid Rs 5,000 per month in the internship period.
In the cellular sector, few operators provide opportunity for employment to bright students who performed extraordinary in the internship period, whereas few of them get adjusted in case of any open vacancy.

    • I am doing 6 weeks internship in ptcl. The procedure is that you have to submit the application with subject “Internship at PTCL” to the General Manager office after a few days you will receive a letter of internship

  10. Telecommunication industry of Pakistan is getting wrong benefits of internship regarding thousand of un-employed engineers.
    The TELCOS engage the engineers for three months without any benefit as internee.
    These telecom. Engineers work day & night in the hope that after three month they will get employment & get payment. But all is in vain.
    These cruel companies engage the new telecom. engineers replacing the previous ones after every three month.
    These are actually the “BEGAAR” camps for telecommunication.
    It is the criminal negligence of PTA.
