PTCL Review Petition Cae in Supreme Court – Ordered Report of Privatization remaining dues of 80 crore dollars

Islamabad (Thursday, February 19, 2016) – Yesterday was second day of hearing in PTCL retired employees case in Supreme Court.

SC SUMMONS AGP IN PTCL EMPLOYEES’ CASE

Supreme Court on Thursday summoned Salman Aslam Butt Attorney General for Pakistan to inform the court about federation response in Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) employees benefit review petition.

The five-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Mushir Alam heard the case.

During proceedings, the chief justice asked whether the PTCL buying company had paid all outstanding amounts to the national exchequer. Amicus Curiae Salman Akram Raja informed the court that the Etisalat company have to pay $800 million. Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked that if the company did not clear dues then why the government was in hurry to hand over PTCL to Etisalat.

Later, the court summoned AGP and adjourned haring till Friday.
