Request of PTCL Pensioners to Chief Justice Supreme Court: kindly take Sumotu action:
PTCL Retired Officers Welfare Association urged Chief Justice to kindly take Sumotu action
The pensioners of Telecommunication are erstwhile Pakistan Telegraph and Telephone department employs whose services were transferred to PTC and PTCL as per telecom reorganization act 1996. The provisions to safeguard their pensionary benefits were covered by formation of Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust (PTET) and the Government of Pakistan was the guarantor of their rights. PTET had been disbursing pensions and pension benefits like increases notified by the government to its pensioners consistently since its formation till now.
The Government of Pakistan has announced increase in pension (15%) and on top medical allowance (20%) of gross pension effective from July 2010. The government pensioners have started getting this increase since then. Telecommunication pensioners have not received increase in pension so far. More than 39000 pensioner’s families are affected by this delay on the part of PTET.
It must be realized that the increase in pension by the government was done to ameliorate the hardships faced by the pensioners due to extreme inflation in prices. Apparently PTET has failed to issue notification for the increase in pension benefits as ordained by the government so far. Telecommunication pensioners are feeling this lapse on the part of PTET as a deliberate attempt to sidestep increase in pension as envisaged by the Government. PTCL Retiered Officers Welfare Association urged that PTET and ministry of information Technology should take notice to issue notification as early as possible.and Chief Justice take Sumotu action for the relief of PTCL pensioners,
Muhammad Arif and other PTCL pensioners
